Eco-Friendly Transformer Insulation Fluid

Based on their composition, electrical insulating oils are classified into two categories: mineral insulating oil and synthetic insulating oil. Mineral insulating oil is produced from refined petroleum liquids. In contrast, synthetic oils used for cables mainly consist of dodecylbenzene (for selfcapacitating oilfilled cables), polybutene (for steel pipe oilfilled cables), and a small quantity of silicone oil for flameretardant cables. At present, mineral insulating oil is still the most widely used type, so when people refer to electrical insulating oil, they are usually talking about mineral insulating oil.
Product Details:Eco-Friendly Transformer Insulation Fluid
In electrical equipment, transformer oil plays a crucial role in isolating charged parts, preventing short circuits. The dielectric constant of air is 1.0, whereas that of transformer oil is 2.25, indicating that the insulating strength of transformer oil is significantly higher than that of air. For instance, a coil of transformer oil exposed to air would quickly become punctured during operation. However, when transformer coils are filled with transformer oil, the insulating strength is enhanced, preventing puncturing. As the quality of the oil improves, the safety factor of the equipment also increases.

1. Preparation for Oiling
Based on the transformer's operation, its past records, and the maintenance schedule in place, ascertain the appropriate time to change the oil. Usually, transformer oil needs replacing every 3 to 5 years.
Select transformer oil that fulfills the requirements according to the transformer's model and the actual working setting.
Gather all the necessary tools and equipment for the oil change, including oil drums, pumps, pipes, filters, filter elements, thermometers, level indicators, cleaning materials, gloves, overalls, and helmets.
Ensure safety by having the operator wear protective gear and maintaining a safe working environment, free from open flames and smoking.
2. Market Challenges
Crude oil's price volatility exerts a notable impact on the transformer oil market dynamics. The International Energy Agency reports that in October 2018, the average crude oil price stood at USD73.6 per barrel, whereas in the initial six months of 2022, it soared past USD100 per barrel. Such unpredictable swings in oil prices can destabilize the oil and gas sector, fostering investment uncertainties in the global transformer oil market, which heavily relies on naphthenic and paraffinic mineral oils for transformer usage. Consequently, the transformer oil market anticipates encountering obstacles stemming from crude oil's volatile pricing throughout the forecast horizon.
