Biodegradable Dielectric Oil for Substations

For electrical equipment, transformer oil is a vital insulating medium, mostly refined from petroleum and mainly made up of alkanes and cycloalkanes. Its superior electrical insulation can effectively insulate the high-voltage components inside the transformer, so as to avoid leakage and short circuits. Because of its good thermal conductivity, the heat generated during the operation of the transformer is quickly transferred, preventing overheating and damage. Moreover, it has a certain arc-extinguishing ability, rapidly quenching the arc when the switching appliance cuts off the current to generate an arc.

Product Details:Biodegradable Dielectric Oil for Substations

A transformer is a vital device in the power grid. Whether the transformer can run smoothly has a direct bearing on the power grid's safety, and the transformer oil is inextricably linked to the reliable operation of the transformer. Thus, we need to carry out the tasks of selecting, using, and managing transformer oil effectively to guarantee the safety of transformer operation. Regarding the selection principles, initially, we should focus on the oil's properties. Its quality must conform to the demands set by the equipment's voltage grade, the local ambient temperature, and other relevant elements. Additionally, the compatibility of the oil with other insulating materials should not be overlooked.

1. Applicable Industry

Industrial motors: In high-power motors, transformer oil serves as both an insulating and cooling agent, preventing overheating and promoting efficient motor performance.

Generators: Transformer oils are vital in generators, helping to sustain stable operating temperatures and lower the likelihood of failures.

Communications Equipment: For military communications equipment, transformer oil provides necessary insulation and cooling, ensuring dependable performance in high-temperature and vibrational settings.

Avionics: In the electronics of aircraft, transformer oils are used to insulate and manage heat, ensuring reliable operation at high altitudes and during extreme weather.

2. Factors Affecting Service Life

In order to ensure the service life of transformer oil, oil quality analysis and testing need to be carried out regularly. Detection includes insulation resistance, absorption ratio, polarization index, dielectric loss, winding leakage current and oil microwater and other aspects. Through a comprehensive analysis of these test results, you can determine whether the oil is damp, contains impurities or aging and so on. If there is a problem with the oil, you can first try to regenerate it through filtration to continue using it. However, if regeneration by filtration is not feasible or the oil quality is seriously deteriorated, it is necessary to consider replacing the transformer oil with a new one.
