Hydrogenated Transformer Oil for Longevity

Transformer oil can generally be categorized based on its origin from paraffinbased or naphthenic crude oil. However, advancements in hydrogenation and reforming processes now allow paraffinbased crude oil to produce transformer oil with properties similar to that of naphthenic crude oil. When evaluating the base oil of transformer oil, in addition to standard physical and chemical properties, a common approach is to analyze the carbon structure, also referred to as the family composition. This carbonbased structure considers the complex base oil as a single molecule, comprising three structural components: aromatic rings, naphthenic rings, and alkyl side chains. The Cp value indicates the percentage of carbon atoms in the alkyl side chain relative to the total carbon content of the molecule.

Product Details:Hydrogenated Transformer Oil for Longevity

When insulating oils are used in transformers, transformers, capacitors and cables, priority should be given to mineral insulating oils processed from naphthenic crude oils. As an electrical appliance insulating oil, it needs to be stable in physical and chemical properties under the action of electromagnetic fields, as well as other environmental conditions, in order to guarantee the safety and reliability of electrical equipment. The refining of electrical equipment insulating oil needs to be based on naphthenic hydrocarbons as the basic components, including a sufficient number of stable aromatic hydrocarbons, and as far as possible to remove the paraffinic hydrocarbons that are easy to be cleaved by the orthorhombic long straight chain.

1. Environmental Friendliness of Transformer Oil

Recycling and reuse: Transformer oils can be reprocessed using physical and chemical methods to remove impurities and contaminants, thus restoring their operational capabilities.

Reclaimed Oil: Transformer oils that have been reprocessed can demonstrate properties akin to those of new oils, which reduces resource wastage and the necessity for new raw materials. Using recycled oil is not only economically advantageous but also helps mitigate environmental burdens.

2. Factors Affecting Service Life

The lifespan of transformer oil is heavily influenced by the design life of the transformer. Generally, this design life is established based on the expected life of the oil. Consequently, throughout the design life, the transformer oil should adequately support the operational requirements of the transformer. Furthermore, environmental factors like high temperatures, moisture, and pollution can adversely affect the service life of transformer oil. In challenging environments, the oil tends to age faster, which shortens its lifespan.
