(1) Observation of Appearance: Good transformer oil should be clear and transparent with no suspended matter or sediment. If the oil appears cloudy, turbid or colored, it may indicate the presence of pollution or oxidation.

(2) Odor identification: qualified transformer oil should have no odor, or slightly kerosene odor. If there are other odors, such as burnt, acetylene or sour smell, that the oil quality has become bad. Identify the odor, the oil sample can be stirred and slightly heated, and then a few drops of oil to clean hands after rubbing the identification.
