Dibenzyl Toluene Production

Benzyltoluene boasts outstanding insulating and dielectric properties, low viscosity, a high boiling point, and remarkable thermal stability. It is widely applied in the electric power and petrochemical industries as a capacitor impregnating agent and heat - conducting oil. Moreover, due to its strong gas absorption ability and high hydrogen storage density, it holds great promise as a hydrogen storage carrier in the new energy field. With the continuous progress of industrial technology, the domestic demand for high - performance benzyltoluene products is surely to increase.
Product Details:Dibenzyl Toluene Production
The reaction between benzyl chloride and toluene produces monobenzyltoluene (MBT) and dibenzyltoluene (DBT). The MBT and DBT obtained feature good thermal stability, a wide span of operating temperatures, lack of corrosiveness, and absence of strange odors. They are heat - transfer oils with superb comprehensive characteristics.

1. Quality Index
Pour point: In general, it is approximately between -40 °C and -50 °C. A low pour point allows the insulating oil to maintain its liquid state in cold conditions. This ensures that the capacitor's performance remains unaffected as the oil doesn't solidify.
Acid value: The acid value is usually below 0.05mgKOH/g. A lower acid value implies better chemical stability of the insulating oil. Consequently, it will have less corrosive impact on the capacitor's electrodes and insulation materials.
Moisture: Generally, the moisture content is required to be below 50ppm. Too much moisture can remarkably decrease the insulating oil's insulation ability, increase dielectric loss, and might even result in internal breakdown of the capacitor.
2. Application Areas
High-voltage switchgear: Capacitors in high-voltage switches are used to realize the functions of insulation and voltage equalization between breaks. Capacitor oil provides reliable insulation for these capacitors, so that the high-voltage switch can effectively cut off and connect the circuit during the opening and closing operations to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power system.
