2. Transformer Applications in Renewable Energy

Hydroelectric power plants: These facilities convert the kinetic energy of water flow into electrical energy by driving turbine generators. The generated electricity is then converted to the appropriate voltage through transformers. In hydroelectric power plants, transformers step up low voltage power to facilitate long-distance transmission via transmission lines, ensuring efficient energy utilization. In the substation area of a hydroelectric power plant, a step-up transformer elevates the low-voltage output (e.g., 400 V) from the generator to a higher voltage (e.g., 35 kV, 110 kV, or higher) for effective long-distance transmission.
